Lufthansa celebrates 50 years of service in Croatia

The landing of today’s Lufthansa flight LH1414 in Zagreb marks the 50th anniversary of Lufthansa’s continuous presence in Croatia.

The landing of today’s Lufthansa flight LH1414 in Zagreb marks the 50th anniversary of Lufthansa’s continuous presence in Croatia. On occasion of this important day, a special event take place at Franjo Tuđman Airport to celebrate the success of the airline over the last five decades.

The anniversary flight departet Frankfurt at 12:20 and arrive in Zagreb at 13:40. The flight was operated by the very modern, environmentally friendly, Bombardier CRJ900 seating up to 90 passengers in both Business Class and Economy. Passengers departing on flight LH1415 to Frankfurt received small gifts (Licitar hearts – symbol of Zagreb region).

On 25 August 1967 a Lufthansa Boeing 727 “Würzburg” landed in Zagreb for first time on a scheduled service starting in Frankfurt. During the same period the airline also opened up the second former Yugoslavian destination Belgrade, which is also celebrating 50 years of service this week. Six months earlier, Lufthansa had already opened up a local office in Zagreb, which has never stopped succeeding in the region. Since the first flight, the airline has continued increasing service and destinations from the region and additional Lufthansa Group airlines also opened up routes from Zagreb.

Currently, the Lufthansa Group offers 147 weekly flights from Croatia. Lufthansa offers 56 weekly frequencies from five local cities to the two main hubs; namely, flights from Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Pula, Split and Zadar to Frankfurt and Munich. Swiss offers three weekly frequencies between Zagreb and Zurich. Austrian Airlines offers 34 weekly frequencies from Zagreb, Dubrovnik and Split to Vienna. Eurowings offers 47 weekly frequencies from Dubrovnik, Pula, Rijeka and Split to Stuttgart, Cologne, Munich, Salzburg, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, and Vienna. Brussels Airlines offers seven weekly frequencies between Zagreb and Dubrovnik and Belgium. Lufthansa also has a long cooperation with Croatia Airlines, offers Lufthansa passengers additional flights to Frankfurt and Munich.

The immense network allows passengers to fly via Lufthansa Group hubs to 308 destinations in 103 countries around the world. These connections allow passengers to easily reach popular destinations such as New York, Miami or San Francisco.

Furthermore, the Lufthansa Group has named 2017 the year of digitalization as the company will be investing 500 million euros into digitalization by the end of 2020. As a result of this strong commitment there are many projects going on across the company to improve our services as well as individualized communication with customers. Among some of them are ejournals and chatbot Mildred. FlyNet is currently being rolled out on all A320 family aircraft which will allow passengers internet access on board the aircraft to remain connected.
