Emirates landed in Zagreb

Airline’s new service started June 1st brought exciting possibilities to Croatian travellers. Local Emirates team in place, ready to serve Croatian customers

Zagreb, Jun 01th 2017

Emirates commence its scheduled daily flight between Dubai and Zagreb, expanding the airline’s network and further strengthening ties between the UAE and Croatia.

Months of planning have paved the way for Emirates’ arrival in Zagreb, ensuring Croatian passengers can enjoy the airline’s award-winning product and service and have a seamless travel experience from the start to the end of their journey.

Emirates will serve the route with a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in a three-class configuration, providing travellers from Croatia with a choice of eight Private Suites in First Class, 42 lie-flat seats in Business Class and 310 spacious seats in Economy.

This wide-body Boeing aircraft needs special handling and associated infrastructure to cater for the volumes of passengers Emirates will bring into the airport every day. Zagreb’s Franjo Tuđman Airport recently opened an impressive new passenger terminal, with modern, eye-catching design and passenger-friendly layout and facilities. At the gate which will be used by Emirates’ Boeing 777, there is a connecting airbridge especially installed for wide-body aircraft, allowing travellers the convenience of boarding and disembarking directly from/into the terminal. The project represents one of the largest capital investments in Croatia in recent years, with a spend of over 300 million Euros.

Emirates has refreshed the ticket office in Zagreb’s Westin hotel it has been operating for over ten years. Additional, local staff have been hired and trained to enhance the customer experience, providing assistance with enquiries and bookings. The airline already employs almost 250
Croatian cabin crew and pilots.

An interline agreement, established to enhance connectivity within the region, enables Croatians living in Dubrovnik, Pula, Split and the surrounding areas to fly from their local airport into Zagreb with Croatia Airlines and connect easily onto the new Emirates flight to Dubai and beyond with one ticket and through-checked baggage.

In around six hours passengers can enjoy Dubai’s warm sunshine, stunning beaches, world-class dining outlets and year-round activities and attractions. Whether visiting for a long weekend break or family holiday Dubai offers something for all ages. As an added bonus, Croatians travelling to Dubai for a holiday do not need a VISA in advance as they will receive free tourist VISA on arrival in the UAE.

For those wishing to travel further afield, there is more good news. Strategically timed to facilitate onward connections, the flight’s arrival time in Dubai (23.05 local time) allows onward connections to Far East, Australia and the Indian subcontinent with around four hours’ transit time. For those travelling in Emirates’ Business and First Class cabins, that gives just enough time to enjoy the food, beverages and world-class facilities in the dedicated lounges at Dubai International airport.

To facilitate trade and commerce, Emirates’ daily Boeing 777-300ER service will also offer up to 23 tonnes of cargo per flight, providing many same-day transportation options for temperature-sensitive shipments to the UAE and beyond. Dedicated services like SkyPharma for pharmaceuticals consignments and SkyFresh for perishables like fruit and vegetables will be available to Croatian exporters.
