Aegean Airlines introduces a direct flight Athens – Zagreb three times a week

Zagreb, May 14 2018 – The first flight of the largest Greek airline company Aegean Airlines on the direct line Athens – Zagreb was welcomed today at the Franjo Tuđman Airport with a traditional water solute.

Aegean Airlines will connect Zagreb and Athens directly three times a week: Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, during the summer flight schedule. The ceremony on the occasion of the inaugural flight of Aegean Airlines was held at the Franjo Tuđman Airport, where guests were addressed by Jacques Feron, CEO MZLZ Jsc, Sergios Diplarakos, Regional Director of Aegean Airlines and His Excellence Stavros Tsiepas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hellenic Republic in the Republic of Croatia.

On behalf of Franjo Tuđman Airport Zagreb, the guests were welcomed by the host, Jacques Feron, CEO MZLZ Jsc. He stressed out that this line will certainly contribute to the development of tourist and business links between Greece and Croatia. Also, it will contribute to the continued growth of passenger traffic that Franjo Tudjman Airport marked continuously since the beginning of the year.

Sergios Diplarakos, Regional Director of Aegean Airlines said: “We are very happy to be launching this new route to Zagreb, which is a popular destination for leisure and business travellers, and strengthens AEGEAN’s  existing network. We look forward to welcoming Croatian travelers who will wish to spend their holidays in Greece. “

His Excellence Stavros Tsiepas, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to the Republic of Croatia, said:” On behalf of the Embassy of the Hellenic Republic, I would like to warmly welcome the inauguration of this new flight by Aegean Airlines which will connect Athens directly to Zagreb during the summer flight schedule, at present. I am confident that this long awaited connection, introduced by an Airline which has been  awarded best Regional European Airline for so many years, will contribute to further boost tourist and business exchanges between our two countries, advancing and strengthening economic and other relations. There is a lot that the people of Greece and Croatia can learn from one another, especially in relation to historical and gastronomic destinations in both countries.”
