Grand opening of the New Passenger Terminal of Franjo Tuđman Airport for the VIP guests, shareholders’ representatives and the media was held on Tuesday, March 22, 2017. The official beginning of the event was marked by the performance of the Croatian national anthem, performed by ensemble Lado. This was followed by speeches given by Jacques Feron, CEO of MZLZ, the concessionaire of Franjo Tuđman Airport, Harlem Desir state Secretary of the French Republic, Oleg Butković, Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure and mr. sc. Andrej Plenković Croatian Prime Minister.
 
New passengers’ terminal was officially opened with an act of ribbon cutting by VIP guests (left to right):

The official opening was followed by a tour of the terminal and the gala dinner.

Complete investment in the first phase is more than 300 million EUR and construction of the NPT is a project realized in the form of public-private partnership between Government of the Republic of Croatia and Concessionaire, MZLZ Jsc, consisting of six partner companies: ADP, BBI, Marguerite Fund, IFC, TAV and Viadukt.

New passenger terminal in the first stage can accommodate 5 million passengers, while after the second phase of the project this figure is 8 million. The building of the terminal is characterized by contemporary design and innovative solutions which are spread over 65,000 m2 some of which are the 30 check-in counters, more than 3 km of luggage strip as a part of the most modern automated sorting unit, and for the first time in the history of the airport Zagreb - eight air bridges, six for international and two for domestic traffic, and all other necessary infrastructure of the 21st century airport terminal. This architectural solution signed by Branko Kincl, Velimir Neidhardt and Jure Radić, will surely in the future become another recognizable symbol of the City of Zagreb and Republic of Croatia.
